About this course
You will generally need four relevant GCSEs at grade C or above or an appropriate NVQ Level 2, BTEC First Diploma or Intermediate GNVQ with a satisfactory grade. Mature students are welcome to apply without formal qualifications but subject to a satisfactory interview and the outcome of initial guidance.

Previous knowledge required: You will generally need four relevant GCSEs at grade C or above or an appropriate NVQ Level 2, BTEC First Diploma or Intermediate GNVQ with a satisfactory grade. Mature students are welcome to apply without formal qualifications but subject to a satisfactory interview and the outcome of initial guidance.
What will I study? The BTEC National Award for IT Practitioners is a 6 unit qualification. Each Award comprises 3 common core units and 3 specialist units. The Core Units are: Computer Systems, Communication and Employability Skills for IT. Specialist units are selected from a range and may include; Principles of Computer Networks, IT Systems, Troubleshooting and Repair, Advance Spreadsheet Skills, Website Production & Management.
What else will I do? Students will also study the National Award in Interactive Media which includes the following units: Research Techniques for the Media Industries, Pre-Production Techniques and Web Animation. It may also be possible to study OCN units in Digital Photography, Image Editing and/or GCSE Maths or English.
How will I be assessed? Assessment is through coursework only for the main qualification.
What will I achieve? BTEC National Award for IT Practitioners (equivalent to 1 A level) and the National Award in Interactive Media.
