What will I learn?
This course is for students who wish to gain knowledge of information and communication technology in order to pursue a career in this field. The course content includes the following units: Starting work in the IT industry, working in the IT industry, developing skills in IT, personal effectiveness, social responsibility at work, PC systems, software applications, IT applications and the internet. Key skills units include application of numbers, communications and information technology.
How will I be taught?
The course is taught mainly through classroom lectures and a range of practical work-related assignments which will help develop your competencies to entry level standard in industry.
How will I be assessed?
The course is a mix of taught lessons and individual work. During the course, assessments will be made through completion of assignments (portfolio). Students are expected to spend additional study hours in the Learning Resource Centre in order to successfully complete this programme.

You could progress to the BTEC First Diploma for IT Practitioners.
How would this benefit my employer?
The aim of the course is to introduce learners to IT is used in real world situations the spiritual, moral, ethical, social and cultural issues are inherent in all aspect of IT and centres can explore these issues through discussions and assignments.
