Where does it lead?
The GCSE can lead to the AS in year 2. You can progress to the AS in your second year if you achieve an A or B in your GCSE in year one. The AS and A2 lead towards fuency in the language, further study of the language at degree level or as part of a degree, and towards far greater opportunities for employment in the future. Other modern languages can be studied at degree level if you prove your competence in any language at Advanced level.

There will be a trip to Italy to practice your language skills. Each week you will use the multimedia language laboratory.

This GCSE is a fast-paced course - you will reach GCSE level in one year, so you must be keen and work hard! The GCSE course covers the individual in society, house, home and daily routine. You will also study travel, media, culture, entertainment, social activities, ftness and health. If you take Italian GCSE in your frst year of College and achieve a grade A or B you can progress to the AS level in your 2nd year. Varndean College also ofers a Fast Track A level in one year course for native or near native speakers.
