ITEC Level 3 Diploma in On Site Chair Massage
Using a specially designed chair, you will learn the basics of giving a highly effective through-the-clothes, upper body massage, which is aimed at stress release and relaxation in the workplace.

Learners must already be qualified in Holistic Massage.

Units covered within this qualification, include:

Qualification?
When you come for assessment we will work with you to identify the appropriate start date, duration, level of study and content, which will help you achieve your personal and employment goals.

Work Placements
Work placement opportunities and supported placements in professional working environments are undertaken to enable you to further develop your experience. These can last between three and six months.

During their time at RNC, learners will also experience over 200 hours of 'hands on' training within the public clinics held twice weekly in the College's state-of-the-art new Complementary Therapies centre. Learners will also experience working with external clients and organisations, when they attend organised days with local voluntary groups, i.e. Herefordshire Carers Society, Red Cross.

What next?
Many learners also use this programme to progress onto one of the other complementary or sports therapy diplomas available at RNC.

Training is designed to prepare adults to become professional massage therapists and graduates are then qualified for self-employment through their own or home visiting practice. For those seeking employment, job opportunities exist in:
  • Health clubs, spas and hotels
  • Sports clubs
  • Care settings
  • Voluntary sector
  • Self employment
  • Professional football and sports clubs
  • Fire and rescue services and other public sector departments including hospitals
Some learners also use the programmes as a 'stepping stone' to Higher/Further Education.

Reflexology involves the skilled application of pressure to specific points on the feet in order to restore balance to the body - these points represent reflex areas which correspond to parts of the body.

This qualification trains learners to detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet and hands. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium, encourage stress relief and relaxation. You will cover the reflex zones and the related reflex areas, as well as common disorders and ways in which to treat them.

Topics covered include:
  • Concept of reflex zones on the feet and hands, and their functions
  • Structure of feet, ankles and lower leg
  • Structure of hands, wrist and lower arm
  • Disorders/Conditions of the hands/feet and nails
  • Contraindications and precautions
  • Client care and comfort
