NVQ Level 2
Introduction
ITQ is an NVQ for IT users. It is a training package which is based on today†s most widely used software packages. It is the first of a new breed of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) designed in partnership with employers, in response to the increasing demand in the workplace for computer skills. It is a flexible IT user qualification and training package that can be tailored to ensure that staff and students are trained in exactly the IT skills they need.
Course Content
The qualification consists of one mandatory unit (Making selective use of IT) and 6 optional units (these are listed below):
Operate a computer using Windows XP
Email and Internet using Outlook and Internet Explorer
Word Processing using Word
Spreadsheets using Excel
Presentations using PowerPoint
Databases using Access
The work based mandatory unit (Making selective use of IT) requires the candidate to put together a portfolio of work which will demonstrate the use and application of IT skills in the work place. Advice and guidance will be provided to candidates on structuring and completing their portfolio. The optional units will be assessed through either accreditation of prior learning or upon completion of the relevant assignment.
Entry Requirements
The ITQ is amimed at learners who are already in the workplace and need to improve their IT skills whilst on-the-job. It can also be taken by college students who, as part of thir course, will be doing a work placement.
Duration
Candidates work at their own pace but should aim to complete within one academic year.
Assessment

Progression
You may progress to any Level 3 IT qualification.
Fees
Tuition/training is free to those candidates who have no previous full Level 2 qualification.
