Students will learn to design and make their own jewellery, developing their skills throughout the classes and aiming towards.

Course programme

A basic class for beginners, appropriate for aspiring jewellers or curious hobbyists. Over the 30 weeks the class will cover an introduction to an exciting array of jewellery-making techniques, including soldering, texturing, sheet metal, wire work and much more.
Students will learn to design and make their own jewellery, developing their skills throughout the classes and aiming towards producing a final project.
Basic tools will be available but students may wish to purchase their own tools as they develop their skills.
Materials and saw blades etc are not funded by the College.
A guide and list of equipment for students to purchase will be provided at the first lesson

Course Content
The jewellery-making course for beginners will introduce students to a range of metal jewellery-making techniques. The emphasis of the course will be for students to develop design skills as well as basic knowledge of small-scale metal jewellery and practical skills to enable them to create their designs in metal.
The course is a great base to gain a grounding for students who wish to continue studying jewellery design and making, or students who wish to continue practising privately.
How will I be assessed?
Students will be assessed on their development by the production of course work throughout the 30 weeks. Students will all work towards the design and making of a final project towards the end of the course.
What can I do next?
Together with other relevant qualifications the jewellery-making course for beginners will provide excellent experience and skills for students who are wishing to further study in the Art & Design subject area. it will also provide a taster for those who are considering this area as a vocation.
