Course content
This course is suitable for students who have completed the level one course or who have had experience in basic jewellery making techniques elsewhere and are confident in using the workshop. It will give you the opportunity to build upon your previous experience, helping you develop more independence and confidence and produce more sophisticated work.
You will learn more advanced stone setting, enamelling, simple casting and some silversmithing techniques. You will be encouraged to make jewellery that is personal to you, thus developing your design skills.
Teaching
Sessions usually begin with a group meeting for about 15 minutes where students can show their work to the group, share problems and successes and bring to the class anything they wish, for discussion. The remainder of the session is devoted to practical work, split between one-to-one teaching and demonstrations/short information sessions to the group.
Please note that some new students will start each term. If you are a continuing student, your tutor may take some time inducting new students at the start of the term, although projects are set up for you to work on with the support of the technician.
