Course programme
Throughout July and August The Bristol Language Centre runs summer courses which offer intensive tuition in groups combined with a social activity programme, for juniors. In this way, you can improve your English, while learning about British life and culture, in a relaxed atmosphere. The morning English language programme uses up-to-date materials including movies, songs and theatre performance. Students will produce their own magazine during the course.
The Course Centre
The course takes place at the City of Bristol College, College Green Campus The college has excellent teaching and learning facilities and is
located in the heart of Bristol City Centre. The course Centre is based in the city centre in a thriving area near the quay. The centre is only a short walk from the city's best amenities, shopping and sight seeing areas. Studying on the homestay programme is an excellent opportunity to learn
English in England!
Accommodation
Students will be provided with homestay accommodation. Our carefully selected homestay providers are conveniently located. As the Course Centre is located in the centre of Bristol our homestay providers are within easy access. As a British Council accredited school we ensure that students have comfortable homes and we visit them regularly to ensure that
our high standards are met. Students will not be accommodated
in the same home with another student of the same nationality
unless specifically requested.
Staying in a homestay is the ideal way for young students to immerse themselves in Bristol's daily life and will enable students to speak English in a real environment.
Activities
The activity programme is packed with exciting activities, including afternoon sports, visits to some of Bristol's many attractions, such as the restored docks and the spectacular bridge over Avon Gorge in Clifton, as well as full and half day teacher accompanied excursions.
Examples of full day excursions are Bath, Oxford and London. There will also be optional Sunday excursions. The programme will integrate language learning with the activities, and will combine local attractions and places of interest with excursions to internationally recognised places. There are many festivals in Bristol throughout the summer, including
the balloon festival and harbour festival. These will be included in the programme wherever possible.
The City
Bristol is a vibrant, multicultural city of opportunities, with two world class universities. It is less than 2 hours from London, 10 minutes from Bath and the head offices of many top British companies are sited in the area. The city enjoys a packed programme of cultural and social events, including music and film festivals, many of which take place over the summer. Bristol combines Georgian terraces, waterfront cafes and arts centres and
