Law A Level LocationCranford Avenue Course Overview Apply Now The course encourages you to take a broad view of the law and develop your capacity for critical thinking and to appreciate the relationship between different aspects of the subject. You will have the opportunity to visit local magistrates and Crown Courts. The College hosts local magistrates and the President of the Supreme Court for a question and answer session on topics such as law and morality and justice. There are also links with local solicitors, with whom work experience can be arranged.

Course programme

At least 5 GCSEs A – C including Maths and English, unless otherwise stated at interview for specific subjects requirements. Course Content AS units include: • Law making and the legal system • AS unit 2: the concept of liability. A2 units include: • Criminal law • Property offences and legal concepts. Progression The course provides an appropriate foundation for further study of Law or related subjects in higher education and various vocational courses. Many prestigious universities see Law as an advantage for those who wish to pursue a Law degree. Past students have gained places on degree courses such as primary teaching, adult nursing, sociology, mental health nursing, law and psychology at Universities such as Exeter, Winchester, Bristol, Southampton and Bournemouth. An A Level in Law will be a valuable contribution to a set of qualifications that employers value. The transferable skills involved in the subject are highly sought-after in a wide range of careers. Equally, material studied would be useful for candidates intending to pursue a career in business, journalism or local government. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
