Comprehensive study into the law and legal system and high success rates.

Suitable For:
Students who would like to learn about the workings of the English legal system and law.

Application Method:
Application followed by individual interview

Content / Overview:
On this course, you'll learn about the important issues surrounding our legal system including why we have certain laws, who is involved in the legal system and how the law affects us all. For example, do you know the difference between a solicitor and barrister? Or what power EU law has over the English system? At AS level, there are two modules: the sources of law and the English legal system. For A2, the modules are both related to the law of contract. To help you in your studies, you will visit local courts and see the law in action. If you like reading and debating, then this course will stimulate you and demonstrate your ability to present reasoned arguments based on the English legal system. You will be prepared for the academic training necessary to study Law at university and for employment.

Delivery Method:
Short formal lectures followed by class or group discussions, case studies and problem solving activities in small groups.

Assessment:
Coursework and exam.

Progression:
Degree or careers in law or the Civil Service.
