Course programme

By choosing to study for your LLB Honours Degree with Canterbury Christ Church University you will be part of a dynamic, challenging and enjoyable environment. Specifically, the advantages we offer include: Qualifying Law Degree − your Degree is recognised by both the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board to enable you to go straight on to the Vocational Stage to qualify as a Solicitor (Legal Practice Course) or a Barrister (Bar Professional Training Course) The University has a recognised expertise in Mediation. This is enhanced by our Mediation Clinic, the first of its kind in a UK university and which our students have the opportunity to participate in. We also offer a number of Mediation related subjects as part of our provision, which provide opportunities to develop an expertise in this growing area We are in the process of aligning our LLB with the Paralegal community, to work with the National Association of Licensed Paralegals, and the Institute of Paralegals. We will be one of only a handful of universities across the country providing this opportunity. This means that, by completing certain subjects as part of your LLB, you obtain a dual qualification − your LLB and Membership of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals, for instance. We see this as a major opportunity for our students as it offers key practical skills to employers and is excellent preparation should you decide to move on to the Vocational Stage of training after your LLB We are in the process of developing links with our local Citizens Advice Bureau, which is a voluntary advice service. This will enable you to train as Advisors and provide ‘frontline’ advice and obtain realistic practical experience Within Canterbury Christ Church we have an excellent Career Development service, which works with the Law Programmes to provide a comprehensive package of support and guidance designed specifically for our students. We understand the huge commitment you are making by studying with us and we will do everything we can to develop the skills employers tell us they need. We are very much an ‘applied’ Law School teaching both theoretical and practical approaches to law.
