Course programme

The Department of Law and Criminal Justice offers a virtually unique series of ‘LL.B with...’ degrees that you will find offered in few other Universities. These include: LLB (Honours) with: Business Criminology Finance Forensic Investigation History International Relations Policing* Politics Sociology *subject to validation Choosing one of these options will mean: The opportunity to obtain a Qualifying Law Degree recognised by both the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board to enable you to go straight on to the Vocational Stage to qualify as a Solicitor (Legal Practice Course) or a Barrister (Bar Professional Training Course). The ability to combine a completely different area of study within a fully Qualifying Law Degree, getting the ‘best of both worlds’. The opportunity to develop specialist employability skills making you even more attractive to future employers both within law and your other chosen subject. Recognition for exemption purposes from Professional Bodies such as Accountancy; Purchasing and Supply; Personnel Development; Marketing and others. We are in the process of developing links with our local Citizens Advice Bureau, which is a voluntary advice service. This will enable you to train as Advisors and provide ‘frontline’ advice and obtain realistic practical experience. Within Canterbury Christ Church we have an excellent Career Development service, which works with the Law Programmes to provide a comprehensive package of support and guidance designed specifically for our students. We understand the huge commitment you are making by studying with us and we will do everything we can to develop the skills employers tell us they need. We are very much an ‘applied’ Law School teaching both theoretical and practical approaches to law.
