What's it all about?:
Do you run a nursing home or a residential complex for older people, adults with a physical or learning disability, adults with sensory impairment or people with a mental health problem? If you do, then our course will boost your own service-providing skills and help you tackle all aspects of the managerial side of your position. On successful completion your competence will be awarded with an industry-recognised qualification.

Progression:
This is a recognised qualification by the Commsiion for Social Care Insprection (CSCI) and will be a statutory requirement for a management role.

Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:

*relevant work experience at mangerial level for at least 12 months.

*you must be in a suitable work role to be assessed in management practice at level 4.

Duration: 20 weeks teaching, two years to complete portfolio

What does the course involve?:

This course is a recognised qualification for care managers in a residential setting. It covers all aspects of the managerial task including staff, budgets, environment and information. The course also covers study skills and anti-discriminatory practice.

When can I study?:
Thursdays, 9.00am - 1.00pm

Are there any exams?:
You will develop a portfolio that reflects your work practice. A Variety of assessment methods will be used including direct observation.
