This Build your own MA (BYOMA) short course will enable you to develop a critical understanding of the nature of work organisations, their structure, management and leadership from a variety of theoretical perspectives to consider how such ideas can be applied to leading and managing your own or other organisations. You will write a piece of analytical work or develop a framework to inform both reflections on leader and manager processes in your own organisation and also personal choices about how to act in the situations you encounter.
On this course you will draw on your own experiences of the working environment and the course content will be influenced by this input. In exploring how both historical and contemporary organisations are managed and led.
You will be encouraged to draw on these theories to analyse your own employing organisation and managers’ activities within it, as well as your own organising and managing strategies.

During this time, you will take part in a variety of online exercises, forums and projects which culminate in the submission of an assignment (equivalent to 5,000 words), the specific subject matter and content of which will be determined by your interests and professional context. Successful completion of this assignment will gain you 20 Masters level credits.
