Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training - Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt

Introduction

This course is designed for delegates who have passed Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and wish to upgrade their knowledge to Black Belt level.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a much sought-after qualification which shows expertise with Lean Six Sigma and that the holder has the skills required to manage and lead quality improvement projects using the DMAIC methodology.

This 5-day course includes everything delegates need to get their knowledge up to Black Belt level. Our courses focus on practical techniques which you can start using right away. You will be provided with a comprehensive course workbook which can act as a reference for you after you leave the classroom. Formal exercises and discussion within the classroom will help you learn to apply your new knowledge when you return to your workplace.

Pre-Course Reading

We will provide you with some reading to do before the course starts. We also recommend reviewing your Yellow and Green Belt study material as the course assumes prior knowledge.

You will also need a laptop with a copy of Minitab 16 or later installed. A 30-day trial version is available, and details of how to install this are included within your pre-course reading document.

It is important to point out that the trial version is only for 30 days, so you need to time your download so Minitab remains active for the duration of the Black Belt section of the course. Also, Minitab is not currently available for Apple Macs.

Prerequisites

You must be Green Belt qualified before taking this course. This qualification can be obtained by taking our Knowledge Academy Green Belt course.

We recommend this course for any Lean Six Green Belt looking to build on their knowledge and lead Lean Six Sigma projects.

Course Outline

The course lasts five days. In-class activities will show you how to perform statistical calculations using the Industry Standard package (Minitab) while the case study-based exercises will challenge you to use the tools learned in a real-world perspective. On the final day will be a case study based on what you’ve learned.

The Assessment

The assessment is split between Case Study exercises and a final written exam. Each part of the assessment has 50 marks (100 in total) and a candidates must gain at least 70 marks to be awarded a certificate.

Success in the exam indicates that the candidate would be able to lead a programme of process improvement initiatives, guiding up to six Green Belt teams at any one time act as a subject matter expert on Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools.
