Description

The Learning and Development NVQ Level 4 is aimed at those who support the learning and development of others.

Qualification overview

The level 4 qualification recognises specialist learning and involves detailed analysis of a high level of information and knowledge in learning and development. Learning at this level is appropriate for people working in technical and professional jobs, and/or managing and developing others. This qualification is designed for practitioners delivering training programmes within the context of FE and HE institutions and training providers. The qualification is structured to allow the candidate to work at their own pace, with their own assessor during working hours.

Timescale

6 to 18 months, dependent on the individual candidates competencies.

Core units

* Contribute to learning within the organisation
* Evaluate and develop own practice
* Design learning programmes
* Agree learning programmes with learners
* Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
* Create a climate that promotes learning
* Evaluate and improve leaning programmes
* Optional units from group A
* Identify learning aims and programmes
* Identify the learning and development needs of the organisation

Optional units from group B

* Prepare and develop resources to support learning
* Enable group leaning
* Support learners by mentoring in the work place
* Respond to changes in learning and development
* Plan how to provide basic skills in the work place

Assessment

To achieve the qualification, candidates must successfully complete seven core
units, one optional unit from group A and four optional units from group B.
Assessment is through direct observation within a learning and development setting combined with inspection of supplementary evidence such as assignments, professional discussion, witness testimonies and work products.
