Course Content

A competency-based programme designed to reflect contemporary learning and development theory and practice. The programme enables candidates to formally identify their performance in the workplace and assess their knowledge and understanding of the key areas of learning and development. This qualification includes the A1 and A2 Assessor and V1 Verifier units which replaced the old units. Candidates may choose to undertake mini-awards consisting of units from this qualification for specific workplace/employer requirements, e.g. Mentoring in the Workplace.

Career Prospects and Progression

The acquisition of nationally recognised qualifications can lead to enhanced career prospects. Progression is possible to a range of higher level and professional qualifications depending on the individual's area of expertise. Examples may include NVQ Level 5, Certificate /Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, Certificate/Diploma in Management and specific Human Resource Management qualifications.

Modules

The award consists of 8 mandatory and 4 optional units. Mandatory Units: Contribute to learning within the organisation; Evaluate and Develop Own Practice; Evaluate and Improve Learning and Development Programmes, Design Learning Programmes; Agree Learning Programmes with Learners, Manage the Contribution of Other People to the Learning Process; Create a Climate that Promotes Learning. There are a range of Optional Units which may be undertaken. Examples of the areas these units cover include: Identify the Learning and Development Needs of the Organisation; Assess Candidates Using a Range of Methods A1; Support Learners by Mentoring in the Workplace; Monitor and Review Progress with Learners; Prepare and Develop Resources to Support Learning, Conduct Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process V1.

Method of Assessment

Assessment is based on observation, evidence collected by candidates at their workplace, witness testimonials and discussion, presented in a portfolio of evidence.
