Introduction Stratford-upon-Avon College offers learning opportunities for Year 10 and Year 11 students aged 14-16, offering them an opportunity to work towards exciting qualifications alongside their National Curriculum subjects at school. They will study towards this at the college one day a week for two years.
The programmes on offer give students an opportunity to gain "hands-on" practical experience in a specialist training environment, e.g. catering kitchen or engineering workshop, or expand their knowledge in areas that may not be available through school. The Young Apprenticeship and Diploma programmes include aspects of work experience as well as giving a theory-based insight to the subject areas. This will give learners the appropriate experience and knowledge that will increase their options into further education or a career.
Students studying at the college receive high levels of personal and academic support throughout their programme.
To help with the transition from school to a college environment, each student will have the support of a named Personal Tutor and the 14-16 Co-ordinator. All students will receive regular tutorials, usually in a small group setting to ensure that all their needs are met whilst in college. There will be two written progress reports each year and two Progress Evenings held at Stratford-upon-Avon College.
All students can also access any of the services available through the Learner Services department.
