This qualification focuses on fundamental plumbing practical skills and knowledge. Successful completion of the qualification will ensure that the learner will have gained an understanding of the core skills and knowledge required by a plumber working within the plumbing sector. The qualification does not require occupational evidence. Course Content
- Introduction to health and safety in construction
- Introduction to the construction industry
- Bending and jointing copper pipes
- Connecting pipes and fittings to appliances
- Constructing combined frames
- Installing rain water goods
- Removing and refitting water-filled radiators
- Working with non- manipulative fittings
- Working with low carbon steel pipes and fittings
- Maths and English at an appropriate level
NOTE:
As part of your programme of study, there is an expectation that you undertake a timetabled work placement or experience block of learning, this is designed to enable you to gain experience of the industry
You will also have the opportunity to complete additional modules from our construction skills portfolio, Including: Electrical, Plastering, Brickwork, Joinery, Electrical and Paint and Decorating, This will allow you to gain a wider experience of the industry and increase you skills.
Method of Study
There will be a combination of workshop based practical activity and assessment as well as classroom based theory.
Additional information
4 GCSE’s at grades D – E, including a D in Maths and English
Or Level 1 vocational at Merit or Distinction and Level 1 qualification in Maths and English
Or Scottish equivalent
Subject to initial assessment and interview.
