Course Content

Introduction to health and safety in construction
Introduction to the construction industry
Painting techniques
Painting and wallpapering
Applying decorative effects
Applying wallpaper to internal and external angles and painting skirting
Painting a panel door
Maths and English at an appropriate level

NOTE:
As part of your programme of study, there is an expectation that you undertake a timetabled work placement or experience block of learning, this is designed to enable you to gain experience of the industry

You will also have the opportunity to complete additional modules from our construction skills portfolio, Including: Electrical, Plumbing, Brickwork, Joinery and Plastering, This will allow you to gain a wider experience of the industry and increase your skills.


Method of Study

There will be a combination of workshop based practical activity and assessment as well as classroom based theory.

Method of Assessment
On-going assessment will take place throughout the course. All assessments within this qualification are externally set (by City and Guilds), centre marked assignments and practical assessments.

GCSEs at grades E – F
Or Entry Level Qualification
Or Scottish equivalent

At least 16 years old with an interest in the industry. Subject to an initial assessment and interview.
