Course review:
The Level 1 Diploma gives you the knowledge to obtain employment within the Animal Care industry or progression on to the Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care.
You will work with a range of animals at our specialist animal facility in Bradford. These include small mammals, birds, poultry, reptiles, invertebrates and fish. you will learn about the care, feeding, accommodation, behaviour, handling and grooming of all the species that we house.
The level 1 Diploma is equivalent to pre-GCSE and is a 1 year full time course, the subjects that are taught on the level 2 diploma are:
- Develop Personal Performance in Land Based Industries
- Assist with maintaining the Health and Well-being of Animals
- Assist with the exercising of Animals
- Assist with Feeding and Watering Animals
- Assist with the Preparation and Maintenance of animal Accommodation
- Assist with the Handling and Restraint of Animals
- Safe and Effective Working Practices in Land-Based Industries
Each one of these modules is assessed by practical and written assessments, that are graded at a Pass.. You will compile a portfolio of work for the final grading which can be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
