This course aims to introduce and develop learners' basic knowledge of the adult care sector. It is aimed at those who are interested in investigatiing the role of the social care worker with a view to progressing to the Level two qualification in order to gain employment in the sector, or to continue with progression withing the FE environment. This course will allow the learner to explore job roles within the adult social care sector. It is also a gently reintroduction to education for those who gained low or no qualifications whilst in statutory education, and who have not engaged in education for some considerable amount of time.

Course programme
You will study five units in total:
- Introduction to the adult social care sector
- Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care
- Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care
- Awareness of communication in adult social care
- Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the adult social care worker
If you are 19+, course fees are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding.
The programme will be on a roll on roll off format. the first intake being September, followed by further intakes throughout the year and will take six weeks to complete.
