The programme consists of nine units including: Health and Safety; Job Roles in the Automotive Work Environment; Chassis systems; internal engine systems; fuel, ignition, air and exhaust; maintenance. As part of the programme students will also complete functional skills in English, Maths and ICT at the correct level for your programme. Students may also complete the wider key skills: Working With Others and Improving Own Learning & Performance.

Course programme

This qualification is ideal for young mechanics looking to gain qualifications and experience in an active garage.
At the end of the programme, a Level 2 in Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair will be achieved. Students will also be required to achieve a Level 2 qualification in Functional Skills incorporating English, Maths and ICT.

You must work a minimum of thirty hours per week in a relevant field

You will be interviewed and assed prior to enrolment on the program.
During this programme students will carry out assessed workshop tasks and classroom sessions to learn the underpinning knowledge which will be assessed by written question papers, oral questioning, small assignments and on-line assessments with the IMIAL. To successfully achieve all units in the qualification must be completed, including all assessments (practical and theory) to a satisfactory level.
