E or above in GCSE English Language, D or above in GCSE Art or similar. In exceptional cases, students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their artistic flair by submitting a portfolio.

BTEC First Diploma - One-year course
The BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
Under the support and guidance of a team of specialist Art and Design lecturing staff, students will study and work in fully equipped studios. An extended project enables students to learn more about a specialist area including Graphic Design, Fine Art or Textiles.
The course is assessed by a range of methods: projects, case studies and coursework. Students undertake a number of visits throughout the course to art galleries and museums and other places of interest. Students will also take part in a group project which is a vital part of the course.
The central aims of the course are to develop creative ability; drawing and designing skills; and improve levels of communication and presentational skills.
Careers and Further Studies
A BTEC First Diploma prepares students for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as the BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design or National Certificate in Graphic Design at SEEVIC College.
General Entry Requirements
At least two GCSEs at grade D or above or a BTEC Introductory Diploma (or equivalent) in a related area at Merit level.
