Course programme

This course is aimed at first line food handlers to give an appreciation of the fundamentals of good food hygiene practices. Anyone with an interest in food hygiene would benefit from attending this course.

Topics covered include:

  • Food storage and temperature control
  • Pest control
  • Design of premises and equipment

Examination

The course ends with a short multiple-choice test where candidates will need to achieve 20 correct answers from the 30 questions to receive the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering Certificate.

An oral option is available for those who require this. Please state at time of booking whether an oral examination is required. In the event that we are unable to provide this on the course day, you may be asked to return for the examination at a later date.

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health also provide a small range of exam papers in the candidates preferred language:

Please note: All candidates must bring photographic proof of identification on the day of the course to meet the Examination Board's requirements. Candidates that do not bring photographic identification will not be able to take the course.
