Course programme

SWMP; Site Waste Management Plan

The Environmental Academy has a strong reputation for helping construction businesses manage their environmental performance and improve site efficiency. This led to DEFRA appointing consultants from the Academy to run a pilot study and develop training material to assist the construction industry in complying with the requirements of Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP).

This course is designed to ensure that all the key players (clients, designers, architects, principal contractors, subcontractors and suppliers etc) understand the requirements of the Site Waste Management Plan Regulations 2008 and how they apply to each role. This will include:

* How the construction industry impacts on the environment
* The impacts waste has on the environment
* The main benefits of managing waste
* Good practice with regards to waste management (including waste segregation and waste minimisation techniques)
* An overview of all legal requirements related to waste management (including the Duty of Care)
* What should be included in a SWMP
* What is required to work in line with a successful SWMP on site.
