This one year course is ideal for those who are on a Foundation Modern Apprenticeship requiring a Technical Certificate at Level 2 or for those who are interested in a one year foundation course in Engineering to develop more specialist Engineering Principles in the area of machining. During the course you will learn how to work safely in an engineering environment, set and operate lathes and milling machines, and interpret and generate engineering drawings as well as gain an appreciation of the the materials used in industry. Maths and English will be at the core of your studies, both of which are essential if you wish to pursue a career in the industry. All places are subject to interview and applicants will be subject to induction/probationary period and may be asked to undertake a practical assessment.

Additional information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 2 qualification e.g 5 GCSE's grade A*-C. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA ((Employment Support Allowance, (work related activity)) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs
