This qualification is primarily designed for the events industry, however the learner will obtain transferrable knowledge and skills that can also be used to perform stewarding duties within a sports ground environment. This qualification is not part of an apprenticeship framework and enables the learner to gain job related knowledge and skills enabling them to work in event security.


What do these qualifications cover?

To complete the HABC Level 2 Certificate in Event Security Operations (QCF) learners should expect to undertake between 126 and 159 hours of learning, depending upon unit choice. The overall qualification requires learners to successful achieve a minimum of 20 credits, though this could risento a maximum of 24 credits if the learner chose to undertake and successfully completed all 4 optional units. These credits will be gained through the achievement of the 7 mandatory units (18 credits) and a choice of optional units from which they must achieve a minimum of 2 credits.

The topics covered in the mandatory unit group include health and safety in the workplace, how to respond to occurrences during an event, how to manage the movement of people during an event, how to reduce and manage conflict during an event, how to respond to emergencies during an event, how to provide information and advice during an event and preparation for spectator events as an event steward. Optional unit topics include how to conduct searches of people and their property before entering an event, the effective use radio communications, how to contribute to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults during an event, and report writing for event security operations.
