Course programme

This vocational qualification is designed to enable candidates in the workplace the opportunity to acquire a qualification in Engineering Machining through practical assessment of machine competence on-site. Machining competencies can include a range of the following: Turning; Milling and Grinding. Candidates will be assessed against key competences as prescribed by the NVQ awarding body. This is a National Vocational Qualification, and is assessed rather than taught. On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) helps experienced workers get the qualification to prove they can do the job. It turns their existing skills and experience into a nationally recognised qualification. Candidates are assessed during the workplace on their machining competencies.Once you have enrolled onto the programme you will be assigned an assessor that will visit you in the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target. They will support you in the collection of the required evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and any assignments.
