Course outline
Build on the skills and knowledge learnt at level 1 and expand your techniques in complex tiling projects. You will develop skills for employment, including working as a team, CV and interview skills, along with supervision and conduct at work. You’ll produce a portfolio of work that includes both practical and theory based tasks.

Level 1 Diploma or tiling experience, plus a College interview and assessment.
Where does it lead?
NVQ Level 2 (if employed).
How will I learn?
You will study a combination of theory and practical sessions, with a focus on basic tiling techniques, materials and background surfaces, the use of correct tools and health and safety in the workplace.

Don’t worry about the cost of learning! We can help and advise you. For 16-18 year-olds, your tuition will be free and you may be able to get discounted travel with Transport for London student travel cards. 19+: Adults on many courses are eligible for Government funding for some or all of the fee. Adults aged 19-23 are eligible for Government funding up to and including their first full level 3 qualification, and after that they may access an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees if the course is loan-fundable. Adults aged 24+ on a level 3+ course may take out an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees if the course is loan-fundable. If you do need to pay a fee, the College offers a number of ways to pay and can also advise you about financial support available to you. How do I enrol? For 16-18 year old students main enrolment is the day when GCSE results are released (August). However, early enrolment does take place during the summer. Please contact our central admissions department for details on 020 7613 9123 or by email: info@hackney.ac.uk. For adults our main enrolment week is the last week in August. Student success Last year’s success rate was 72%, which is the same as the national average. What's the time commitment You need to commit to the full 36 weeks of study, have a positive and enthusiastic approach to learning a trade skill and have 100% attendance. Much of the learning on the course will take place at College, with some assignments undertaken through accessing the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Where do I go? Support for you Before you start your lessons, you’ll take part in induction sessions, where you’ll meet other students and find out all about the support that’s available to you. This includes learning about the Virtual Learning Environment, tutorials and the campus facilities. All students can receive free, confidential and impartial advice on things like: your next step in education or your career, finance, housing, health, immigration, benefit claims, legal problems, sexual health, drugs, staying safe, personal / emotional concerns and other issues.
