Who is the course for?
This course is designed for students who have a grade D at GCSE.The course is designed to improve your grade to C in a very intense year.
Content outline
The GCSE has the same content as studied in secondary school but covered in a modular format.
You will study a particular area of Mathematics and then take the examination in that area straight after the teaching while it is fresh in your mind.
The areas covered are:
Statistics
Number
Algebra and Shape and Space
The course looks to go through all the material covered in school and rectify all the misunderstandings needed to improve your grade
Method of assessment
The assessment is by 3 examinations taken in November, March and June, as well as 2 compulsory coursework elements.
If students have previously studied the same syllabus at school there may be a possibility of a November resit if individual exam results and coursework marks are high, but this must be confirmed with the Head of Mathematics.
