Entry Requirements

GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent.

In circumstances where there are more applications for the course than there are places available, the College reserves the right to ask for higher grades.

Course Content

This is a new course which is
presently under review. It is proposed
that students undertake 3 units:
• Animal handling and care in a
veterinary environment
• Assisting with veterinary care
in a veterinary environment
• Administrative duties in the
veterinary care environment

If you are accepted onto this course
without a Grade C or above in Maths,
IT and English you will be required
to complete the relevant Essential
Skills qualification. This will be a
compulsory part of your timetable.

Special Features

• A work placement is an integral part of the programme.
• Students also care for small animals in the College.
• Visits to settings of interest are arranged.
• Students must complete 600 hours placement in a veterinary practice.

Achievements/Qualifications

This course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs.

Progression Routes

NVQ Veterinary Nursing, or other related level 3 qualifications in Animal Management or work in the animal care industry.
