This course is designed to prepare students for work within a variety of services, the Police including PCSO’s, Fire Service, Army, Royal Navy, RAF, Royal Marines Commandos, Prison Service, Ambulance Service and HM Customs and Excise.Students will also develop transferable skills that would be suited to a number of private sector positions. Course Content
The BTEC Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Public service is equivalent in size to 1.5 A levels Over a year you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of law, psychology, teamwork, politics, citizenship and criminology.
Method of Study
Students on this course will learn through a variety of methods including Exams, practical experience, lectures, projects and case studies, presentations and many more designed to equip learners with the skills required to achieve in public service. You will be expected to undertake home study on this course.
Additional information
A variety of assessment methods are used including exams, practical assignments, case studies and class exercises. You will be required to keep a portfolio of evidence as a record of all the work that you have completed during the course.
Students must also be prepared to take an independent approach to developing their academic and personal fitness skills.
The course is roughly 80% theory and 20% practical.
All students must participate in the practical sessions, which may include a residential, in order to fulfil the requirements of the course.
