Course programme

This is the ideal qualification for anyone looking to start a career in mechanical engineering, manufacturing parts or specialising in the defence industry. An Apprenticeship is a national work-based training programme designed for each industry. It is a great way of earning and learning at the same time. The Apprenticeship scheme is divided into three levels - Intermediate, Advanced and Higher Apprenticeship. The level of Apprenticeship you undertake will depend on previous experience, ability and the job role you are working in.
You will work towards a number of qualifications designed for you to achieve the skills for your chosen career:
NVQ - Performing Engineering Operations Level 2;
Technical Certificate - BTEC First Certificate in Engineering;
Functional Skills in Communication, Application of Number, ICT, Improving Own Learning, and Performance and Working with Others - all at Level 1.
Other: Employer Rights and Responsibilities training.
Your full commitment to the Apprenticeship is essential. It is important you take ownership for your own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with your employer. Tutors are on hand to guide and support you with your training, and attendance at College sessions is essential.
