Chemistry
AS/A2 Level - Two year course
This course gives a fascinating survey of all main areas of chemistry:
- Organic - the chemistry of carbon compounds
- Inorganic - the chemistry of metals and non-metals other than carbon
- Physical - the study of heat changes and rates of reaction
The course includes chemical calculations, the study of modern instrumental methods of analysis, practical work, frequent tests to aid learning and regular homework assignments.
In year one (AS), study is based on two modules, covering the basic concepts in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. The second year of the course (A2) involves the study of several topics studied in the AS course, but in greater depth. Studying Chemistry involves a great deal of problem-solving.
