Information and Communication Technology
AS/A2 Level - Two-year course
Computers continue to transform the ways in which we learn, communicate, do business, enjoy our leisure and live our everyday lives. This course examines the integration of computing into everyday life and investigates how computers can be applied in the resolution of problems.
It aims to develop in students the ability to analyse, appraise and make critical judgements about the use of ICT-based systems. Students will gain an understanding of the role of people, technology and systems in organisations and be aware of the socio-economic, legal, ethical effects and consequences of the use of ICT.
This course aims to make students competent and confident in the use of computing technologies. Practical skills developed will enable students to utilise the full facilities of various packages and bring together their knowledge and skills, allowing them to apply solutions to real-world problems. Students will undertake a substantial project at A2 Level.
Careers and Further Studies
This qualification will enable students to progress at a higher level in ICT-related subjects and will complement many other curriculum areas.
