Content outline
This course is all about 'How language works?'
At AS you will learn how varieties of writing are constructed; explore literary genres and write your own as well as commenting upon the choices you made in constructing your piece. You will also be investigating spoken language of the media in a practical manner.
At A2 you will research and investigate language issues such as accents and exploring gender issues; explore non-literary genres; writing your own texts, and comment upon the language choices made. There will be analysis of historical texts and conversation transcripts.
Method of assessment
AS: Coursework unit 40%; Written examination paper 60%
A2: Coursework unit 40%; Written examination paper 60% in each year.
