No pre course requirements but a basic knowledge of the human anatomy could be an advantage aswell as a basic first aid understanding

The First Aid at Work course is approved by the AoFAQ/Ofqual. It is designed to provide students with a sound level of knowledge to deal with incidents within the work place environment. Employers are required to have a suitably qualified first aider available to their work force at all times (the amount of first aiders is dependent upon the risk assessment and number of employees) Such person must have attended an approved First aid at work course
Course Objectives
Students will cover the following topics:
- Rule and regulations
- Safety at the scene
- CPR (Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation)
- Unconscious casualty
- Wounds and bleeding
- Burns and scalds
- Injury to bones, muscle and joints
- Shock
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Transportation of casualties
Course Duration/Qualification
The course is usually delivered over 3 consecutive days (18 hours training) it can also be broken down into smaller chunks for example one day a week over three weeks The course meets the regulations laid down by the awarding organisation giving the successful students a 3 year qualification
Further information
The course requires three practical assessments and a written theory assessment (multiple choice) to achieve the required standard. The course is complete with first aid manuals per student as well as handouts.
