About the qualifications

The NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care (QCF) has been developed in partnership with Skills for Care and Development. The qualification forms part of a suite of qualifications in dementia care that have been developed to support government strategies to increase knowledge, understanding and skills of caring for individuals with dementia.

The qualification supports the changing needs within the sector and is part of the Workforce Development Plan established through the National Dementia Strategy Project (England). Development of dementia awareness and understanding will both enhance the level of care provided to people with dementia and also the capacity of the sector to meet the potential increased demand for such provision.

The qualification has been regulated by the qualifications regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). These qualifications are eligible for Skills for Agency (SfA) funding under Sections 96 and 97.

The NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care (QCF) aims to develop knowledge and skills in:

• enabling rights and choices of individuals with dementia;

• enabling interaction and communication with individuals who have dementia;

• the practice of equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
