Children's Care, Learning and Development
BTEC National Certificate - Two-year course
This course is equivalent to slightly over two A Levels and gives students a professional qualification to work with children in the age range of 0-8 years.

The course is modular, and throughout the two years, students will cover a variety of units where they will learn about a wide range of aspects of the care and education of children in this age range â€" from nappy changing to the National Curriculum â€" First Aid to first words!

The course requires students to gain detailed knowledge of child development, as well as being highly practical with students spending one day a week in a work placement as well as some longer blocks. This enables them to gain knowledge and experience of working with babies and children.

Students are encouraged to relate their practical experiences to the work they do at College. They will be assessed on a variety of assignments.

There are no formal exams at the end of the course, all assessment is by assignments set throughout the course.
