About this course

During the course, you will learn:
The signs, symptoms and basic pathology of specific stable conditions.
The implications and effects of specific medications relating to those conditions.
How to plan, deliver, manage and evaluate a safe, effective and progressive adapted physical activity programme, personalised to individual clients needs and lifestyle.
Principles of Nutrition to Physical Activity.
To development of a specific in depth understanding of functional anatomy and biomechanics, relating to the spine and lower back.
To apply appropriate training approaches to plan and design progressive programmes for clients with low back pain.
To develop an understanding of the disease process and how activity or inactivity influences low back pain management.
To develop an understanding of medications, psychological/sociological factors and co morbidities that influence an individuals ability to exercise safely and effectively.

This qualification is particularly aimed at Personal Trainers or Advanced Instructors who are seeking to enhance their qualifications, to give advice and prescribe and teach exercises for clients with specific medical conditions.

Students who wish to enrol on this course must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness instructing or a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.

You will achieve:
Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.
Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Physical Activity and Lifestyle Strategies for Managing Low back Pain.
20 REPs points for each qualification

Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral is 4 days with a tutor and then one assessment day. The Level 4 Certificate in Physical Activity and Lifestyle Strategies for Managing Low back Pain is 2 attendance days with a tutor and a formative assessment on the course attendance days.

Development and Pathology of low back pain.
