This course is designed for students who wish to broaden their skills and knowledge in popular music performance, composition and context. It is project lead and collaborates with the Music Technology, Media and Performing Arts courses to provide students with an exciting, vocational learning experience. Our students value working with other students in a supervised, structured and well resourced environment.

Course programme

Course Content

The Campus has some excellent facilities for music performance and technology. The facilities include:

Two music labs with Apple iMac work stations running Logic, Pro tools, Reason, Garage bands and Sibelius.  Two recording studios - analogue and digital, Pro tools HD and Logic Pro. Two music rehearsal rooms with PA system, guitar and bass amps, piano/ keyboards & drum kit. AV hire department, theatre and studio theatre.

Method of Assessment

Projects during the course include the schools road show, sound recording, running a student lead record label, score preparation, writing, recording and producing an album and organising your own album launch, creating a pop music video and lots of gigs and performance opportunities. You may also have the opportunity to perform in our very own television show 'Later and Live' with Helen Skelton (TV Presenter).
