To gain knowledge and skills on health and social care. Suitable for workers delivering care and support, often without direct supervision or working on their own perhaps in an individual's own home. Workers may have some supervisory or developmental responsibility for other care workers or they could be involved in specialist tasks with a degree of responsibility or independence.

Course programme
The health and social care level 3 is particularly relevant to senior care workers, health care workers, home care organisers and community support workers. There are also units available for drug and mental health workers. Learners need to complete four mandatory and four optional units. Mandatory units are as follows:
- Promote effective communication for and about individuals
- Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace
- Reflect on and develop your practice
- Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals
The optional units are selected from a choice of 105. This extensive range of options covers a wide range of areas including domiciliary care, health care, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, youth justice and managing challenging behaviour.
