What will I study?
As well as developing vital analytical skills through investigation, interpretation and evaluation of evidence you will develop expertise in historical skills and acquire knowledge and understanding of historical events and issues. You will study U.S History (1980-1945) combined with Britain and Appeasement. In your AS year you will assessed by exam and in the second year you will be assessed through both exam and coursework. You will gain an understanding of political, social, economic and religious ideas, knowledge of various primary sources and an opportunity to express your own ideas.
Method of assessment
You AS year assessment will be by exam and in the second year you will sit exams but also produce a detailed piece of coursework.
What will I be able to progress to?
Lots of our students go on to study at a higher level - with the variety of university courses on offer to AGCE History students. History is also a highly respected academic subject that's relevant to many employment routes - the skills you learn on this course are very valuable in the eyes of an employer.
