LEVEL 3 ITEC SPORTS MASSAGE DIPLOMA Entry Requirements
Successful completion of Holistic Massage and Anatomy and Physiology course (or a recognised equivalent).
Description
The course will provide the methodology to enable the provision of treatments for initial sports injuries and help improve performance through pre and post event massage
Course Content
- Additional anatomy and physiology
- Sports massage techniques
- The effect of exercise stress on joints, muscles and neurology
- Principles of training
- Initial prevention and management of injury
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
External examinations in practical and theory. Completion of case studies 5 client 3 treatments each to make a total of 15 treatments,
Progression
- Work as a sports masseur/masseuse
- Progress onto Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage
Materials
Mandatroy professional work wear, socks and shoes (information available on request).

Access to a therapy couch outside college would be an advantage.

(As massage takes place with practice on other learners, with reference to some medical conditions eg early stages of pregnancy, history of thrombosis, back problems or when standing for long periods, referral to a GP prior to commencement of the course may be advisable. Please consult a lecturer for further advice and guidance)
