AS MUSIC TECHNOLOGY
This course is ideally suited to students who have an interest in the use of music technology as a tool for composing, arranging and performance. On this course you will study a range of recording methods from midi sequencing to live and close microphone capture.You will also study genres of music covering 1910 - present day.

Length of Course
One year AS/ two year AGCE.

What qualifications do I need to study on the course?
Five grade C's or above at GCSE. Ideally you will have taken Music at GCSE and achieved at least a C grade. You will need to confidently read and write Music and some confidence on a keyboard instrument would be an advantage. A theoretical understanding of Music to grade 3 or 4 is essential.

What will I study?

In your first year you will complete coursework based on a range of styles of music from the western classical tradition to popular music and jazz. You will also look at the role of technology in music through a series of listening and analysing lectures.

In the second year you will further develop your recording studio skills and will study the fascinating subject of music for Film & TV.

Method of assessment
You will be assessed through a mixture of coursework, written examinations and timed practical tasks.

What will I be able to progress to?
Many students go on to study technology and recording on a specialist degree and HND courses at university or some use the skills gained as a springboard for their own recording and producing projects.
