Course Content
The Qualification is made up of four mandatory units:·Promote effective communication for and about individuals·Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment·Reflect on and develop your practice·Promote, choice, well being and the protection of all individuals
Plus four optional units chosen from the following:·Carry out screening and referral assessment·Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise needs·Carry out comprehensive substance abuse assessment·Help individuals address their substance misuse·Assess and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance users·Support individuals to live at home·Support individuals to retain, regain and develop the skills to manage their lives and environment·Support individuals to manage their financial affairs·Support individuals to manage direct payments·Help individuals to access employment·Help individuals to access learning, training and development opportunities·Enable individuals to access housing and accommodation·Recognise, respect and support the spiritual wellbeing of individuals·Plan, agree and implement development activities to meet individual needs·Support individuals to continue therapies·Interact with individuals using telecommunications·Counsel individuals about their substance use using recognised theoretical models·Support individuals to deal with relationship problems·Carry out extended feeding techniques to ensure individuals' nutritional and fluid intake·Identify the individual at risk of skin breakdown and undertake the appropriate risk assessment·Move and position individuals·Prepare for and undertake physiological measurements·Recognise indications of substance misuse and refer individuals to specialists.·Test for substance use·Identify the physicial health needs of individuals with mental health needs·Raise awareness about substances, their use and effects.
How will I be assessed?
To achieve the qualification candidates need to complete the four mandatory and four optional units.
The programme will consist of workshops and support within your workplace. An assessor will be appointed to provide support and assessment with the work place
You will need to present a portfolio of evidence for assessment and verification
What can I do next?
This qualification can provide progression to further study at level 4 in the same or related areas of study.
