This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to
teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare
whilst in your care.
It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who wish to gain a nationally accredited Level 3 Award.
This two-day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted.
In order to obtain this qualification, you must attend both days and complete the two units of accreditation.
DURATION
A minimum of 12 hours makes up these two units consisting of theoretical and practical work.

Course programme

Two day (12hours) level 3 qualification in Paediatric first aid. Vaild for three years and endorsed by OFSTED. Perfect for anybody who works or looks after children or infants.
On successful completion delegates will receive a certificate, a card that fits into the purse/wallet, a colour First Aid hand book and an individual First Aid kit.
Unit 1 covers the following subjects:
What is First Aid, Surveying a scene. Dealing with an unconsciuos but breathing normally child/infant. dealing with an unconscious but not breathing child/infant. How to deal with choking. How to deal with shock. dealing with wounds and bleeds. Dealing with seizures. dealing with burns & scalds.

Unit 2 covers:
Fractures, sprains, strains and dislocations. head and spinal injuries. Medical conditions eg, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes. Dealing with heat & cold. dealing with different types of poisoning. Bites and stings.

The delegates will be assessed throughout the course on their practical skills. there is also an assessment paper at the end of each day. each paper consists of 10 questions, a mixture of multiple choice and written answers.
