The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy has been designed to provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner with non-pathological (non-injured) tissue.
You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning practice of sports massage therapy, including functional anatomy and physiology, nutrition, classification of sports injuries, and the stages of healing. It will also provide you with the understanding, skills and techniques to plan, prepare for, and apply a range of sports massage methods to non-injured clients.
As part of the award you will be required to work in-situ, and to meet this requirement you will have the opportunity to attend local running events to provide pre and post event massage to athletes. In previous years, students attending these events have found the experience invaluable and extremely rewarding.
A valid first aid certificate is a pre-requisite for this course.
This award can also act as a progression route to VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy or the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in the Prevention and Management of Sports Injuries.
