Course programme

This one year course is aimed at people with lower entry grades who wish to develop their related knowledge and skills in agricultural engineering and seeks to lay the building blocks for a successful course progression or entry into an Engineering business. It covers key related knowledge, understanding and practical skills essential to work within the Land Based service industry. Successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma in Agricultural Engineering at Merit or above, appropriate Functional Skills and with a satisfactory course reference will subject to interview and initial assessment, enable progression onto the Diploma in Agricultural Engineering. With technology increasing there are a wide range of career opportunities for skilled versatile service engineers particularly for those with a recognised qualification, opportunities can include employment in: - • Service engineering. • Farm/contractor mechanic. • Plant/Horticultural mechanic • Tractor driver. • Manufacturer employment. • Family/Home business. • VSO/overland experiences. The broad topics offered on this course also give a sound mechanical basis for entry at service level to allied industries e.g. forestry machinery, welding and fabrication, plant and construction machinery, tool hire, horticultural and ground care machinery.
